Veneto Region / Office for Economics and the Development of Mountain Areas
The Office for Economics and the Development of Mountain Areas of the Veneto Region is responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of the sustainable development of mountain areas. Among other tasks, it co-ordinates and finances the activity of mountain communities, regulates tourist activities in the high mountains as well as the management of the common land, forestry and grazing in municipalities and areas in municipal possession. It participates in the technical committees of the UNESCO Dolomites foundation and in the activities of the Alpine Convention.
In the context of the recharge.green project, the Office for Economics and the Development of Mountain Areas is inventorying the production of renewable energy in the 171 municipalities of the Veneto in the area of application of the Alpine Convention (Work Package 4). The Province of Belluno in the Veneto is also one of the pilot areas for the project where, in co-operation with the local population, the sustainable use of hydropower is being examined with regard to the protection of species diversity and ecosystem services (Work Package 6).
