What will it take for residents of the Alps to take responsibility for their own habitat? Participants of the Youth Parliament of the Alpine Convention provided some answers at Kamnik in Slovenia.
The Youth Parliament to the Alpine Convention (YPAC) has annually been taking place since 2006. This year’s YPAC has been organised in cooperation with the recharge.green project.
Register now: “Energy and nature in the Alps: a balancing act” – final conference of the recharge.green project
We invite decision makers, representatives of public administrations and authorities, of energy businesses and of NGOs to see how the recharge.green results can make a difference and to discuss with us how renewable energy production and nature conservation in the Alps can be combined. A public evening event, a poster exhibit and an excursion will complete the programme. The conference “Energy and nature in the Alps: a balancing act” will take place from 20 to 21 May 2015 in Sonthofen, Germany.
The Alps have great potential for the use of renewable energy. Thereby they can make a valuable contribution to mitigating climate change. This, however, means increasing pressures on nature. What could be the impact of such changes on the habitats of animals and plants? How do they affect land use and soil quality? How much renewable energy can reasonably be used?
